القاهرة – زارت السفيرة سكوبي في 21 سبتمبر مستشفى سرطان الأطفال بالقاهرة وذلك بناء على دعوة الدكتور/ شريف أبو النجا، مدير المستشفى. وقد التقت السفيرة مع العاملين بالمستشفى والمرضى على حفل إفطار ثم قامت بجولة في المستشفى.

وفي كلمتها للعاملين بالمستشفى، قالت السفيرة "سعدت لدعوتي لزيارة مستشفى سرطان الأطفال بالقاهرة. لقد سمعت الكثير عن هذه المؤسسة ولقد سررت بالحضور إلى هنا وتناول الإفطار مع العاملين والمرضى والتعرف على الجهود التي يبذلها الأطباء والمتطوعين مما يجعل هذه المؤسسة مميزة جداً. لقد دهشت من الحجم الهائل للعمل التطوعي والخيري الذي قاد هذه المؤسسة ذات المستوى العالمي لخدمة الأطفال المرضى جداً.

في جولتي بالمستشفى مع الأطباء والممرضين، رأيت الكثير من الأمل والابتسامات على وجوه الأطفال وآبائهم لأن هذه المستشفى أعادت لهم مستقبلهم. لقد شعرت بالتواضع الشديد لمشاهدة هؤلاء الأطفال المساكين وأن أعرف أنهم بين أيدي كريمة ومُحبه في مستشفى سرطان الأطفال بالقاهرة. أفضل أمنياتي بالتوفيق لجميع العاملين والأطفال في مواصلة هذه المهمة الحيوية".

Cairo -- On September 21, Ambassador Scobey visited the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo at the invitation of the hospital’s director, Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga. The Ambassador met and shared an iftar meal with hospital staff and patients and was treated to a walking tour of the hospital’s patient care center and diagnostic facilities.

Speaking to the staff, Ambassador Scobey said, “I’m very delighted to have been invited to the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo. I heard about this institution and it was really a privilege to come here and spend iftar with the staff and with patients of the hospital as well as to see the work of the great physicians and the volunteers that make this a very unique institution. I was totally impressed by the enormous outpouring of volunteerism and charity that has led to the foundation of this world-class institution for the service of very, very sick children.

As I toured the hospital with doctors and nurses, what I saw in the faces of the children and parents was enormous hopes and smiles because this hospital has given them back their future. It has been very humbling to see these poor children and to know however that they are in very loving and generous hands at the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Cairo. I wish all the staff and the children the very best of luck in the future as they continue this very, very important mission.”
